NEO Men's Basketball hosts its Golden Norse Youth Basketball Camp | KSNF/KODE

MIAMI, OK – The NEO men’s basketball program is helping give back to its community by hosting its Golden Norse Youth Basketball Camp.

The camp started on Monday and ends tomorrow. There are two sessions for campers, with the first session being for ages 6-11 and the afternoon session being for ages 12-15.

The camp was led by some NEO players and the NEO coaching staff.

They led the camp participants through various exercises and competitions.

We caught up with some NEO coaches and a player to discuss what was going on during the week and with some campers to talk about what they enjoy most about camp.

Head coach Jeremy Jackson said, “You want to build a basketball line that goes from elementary schools to middle schools to high schools. And that cycle just continues.”

NEO forward/center Chris Mason said, “I mean, it's amazing. It's amazing to see the progress in a day. Some people have already done it, so it's pretty cool to see.”

Assistant coach Blake Mills said: “It's a two-way street, both with our players and the community. You have to show respect to get respect. And we want the community to support us. So we're going to do our best to support them as well.”

Youth campers Taygan, Cason and Landen said, “It was really, really fun. And now it's going to continue throughout the whole camp. It's been really fun.”

“What has been the best thing about camp for you so far?”

“Probably a practice game.” “Yes, a practice game.” “The people.”
