Did Pro Football Focus get the AFC offensive line rankings right?

Since the Joe Thomas era, the The Cleveland Browns have had one of the best offensive lines year after year. Although they rarely led to victories, Cleveland's offensive line has always been one of the best in the league. This also applies to the 2024 season.

The entire Browns team experienced an unprecedented wave of injuries in 2023, and the offensive line was hit especially hard. The unit as a whole experienced three season-ending injuries, as well as a handful of pesky weekly scrapes.

Heading into 2024, a healthy Cleveland offense is without a doubt one of the best units in the entire league, as well as one of the strongest. You can argue that four of the five positions are filled with Pro Bowl-caliber players, and some guys have All-Pro potential.

How did this unit get to its rank? Zoltan Buday of Pro Football Focus released his top 10 AFC offensive lines on Tuesday. The Cleveland Browns came in second, one spot behind the Indianapolis Colts.

While I'd love to shake my fists and argue that this is wrong, I really have no problem with the rankings. Cleveland's kryptonite in 2023 was their ability to stay healthy. One of the positives that came out of that was the development of legitimate depth. Thanks to the injury, we found out that David Jones has the skills and physique to become Cleveland's next great tackle.

We learned that Michael Dunn was a valuable addition to this group, and most importantly, we were reminded that depth on the offensive line is a must, and the organization then began to build the team for 2024.

Cleveland’s 2024 offensive line should break through the huddle with Jack Conklin back on the right side, two of the best guards in football, a great center and either Jed Wills Jr. or Jones, who occupies the quarterback’s blind side.

Cleveland's offensive line is once again one of the best groups in all of football. Under Andy Dickerson's new coaching staff, they have a chance to lead the team where it wants to go.
