Ryan Reynolds on why he didn't think he'd play Deadpool again and the ideas for Deadpool 3 that were rejected

Ryan Reynolds reprises the role of Deadpool in Deadpool and Wolverinebut given the merger of Disney and Fox, the actor thought he would never be able to play the superhero again.

In a new interview, Reynolds talked about why he was afraid of not wearing the Deadpool costume again.

“I didn’t know if I would ever play Deadpool again,” said Reynolds Weekly entertainment“It's not something I would have necessarily said publicly, but I didn't know how a character like that would fit into this world. [of the MCU].”

When Deadpool was given the green light to be integrated into the MCU, several ideas were floated. Reynolds told the publication one idea was “a Rashomon story with these three different points of view.”

Another idea for the third part of the Dead Pool The film saga was an indie road trip comedy.

“It was literally a $5 or $6 million budget with no special effects,” he said. “It was just a talkie-talkie road trip with me and [Karan Soni’s character] Dopinder and some of the things we collected and saw along the way. It wasn't meant to be an event film. If we're on our way to point C, it should just take us to point B. That was the weirdest thing. I liked it. I thought it was kind of funny.”

These ideas were eventually scrapped and Deadpool's collaboration with Hugh Jackman's Wolverine was the story that audiences will see when Deadpool and Wolverine will be in theaters on July 26th.
