Pacheco named director of basketball operations at Cal State Fullerton

Head coach of Cal State Fullerton Dedrique Taylor announced the addition of Tyler Pacheco to the men's basketball coaching staff. Pacheco will serve as director of basketball operations.

“Tyler is highly valued in our program for his energy, efficiency and productivity,” Taylor said. “I think his youth might be one of his most important attributes, along with his ability to handle the guys, solve problems and his familiarity with some of the platforms that will continue to help us grow. I'm excited to see his impact on our program.”

Pacheco joins the Titans after one season at the University of Texas under head coach Rodney Terry. The Longhorns went 21-13 in Pacheco's only season in Austin and reached the round of 32 of the NCAA tournament. Texas secured the No. 7 seed in the Midwest Region after defeating Colorado State before losing to Tennessee.

While at Texas, Pacheco was named to Silver Waves Media's NXT UP Men's Basketball 50 Support Staff List, which names the 50 support staff members who will be promoted to Division I assistant coach next.

Prior to Texas, Pacheco served as an NBA pre-draft summer assistant and skill development coach, working with NBA players such as Klay Thompson, Jalen Green, Benn Mathurin, AJ Johnson, PJ Washington, Cole Swider and Stanley Johnson.

A native of Fresno, California, Pacheco earned his Bachelor of Arts in Communications with a minor in Marketing from the University of Arizona. Pacheco played at Clovis East High School, where he was a three-time honoree and captain of the 2020 Division I Central Section Champions.
