Hermes hosts first US fashion show in New York City

Hermès chose New York City as the location to present what it called the “second chapter” of its Fall-Winter 2024 collection, which was first shown in Paris in March. Nadège Vanhée, the brand's creative director, had always expressed a desire to present in the Big Apple, having lived in NYC herself during her years as a designer at The Row.

The fashion show took place on the evening of June 6 at Pier 36, where the blinking of a dozen decorative traffic lights punctuated the runway appearances of models such as Anok Yai, Irina Shayk and Paloma Elesser to the sounds of “Luck of Lucien” by A Tribe Called Quest.

In this continuation of the Paris show, the well-known lines of the equestrian wardrobe have been redesigned in a sporty style with urban accents. The Rocabar horse blanket takes on architectural silhouettes in vibrant ochre tones. The competition jacket has been reinvented in the name of softness, with the leather straps beautifully blending with the knit. Overall, the useful combines with the beautiful in an urban and feminine reinterpretation.

Celebrities who walked the runway for the eclectic, pluralistic and optimistic fashion presentation included Usher, Jenny Slate and Lily Allen. Other highlights of the collection, which featured stiff bangles and bracelets, included puffer jackets and trench coats, black leather pants and mustard yellow jackets.
