Led by medalist Will Harvey, the Shamrocks win their third consecutive regional title

The Westfield boys golf team won its third consecutive regional championship on Friday, securing victory at the Harrison Regional Championships at Coyote Crossing in West Lafayette.

The Shamrocks narrowly edged Zionsville for the program's fifth win overall. Both teams scored 309 points, but Westfield won on the fifth man's score. Both teams, as well as third-place Guerin Catholic, will advance to the IHSAA state finals next week at Prairie View Golf Club in Carmel. The Golden Eagles finished third with 316 points and will try to win their third straight state title next week.

The Rocks were led by Will Harvey, who won the medal with an even par 72. Harvey made three birdies in his round. Jake Cesare shot a 77, sinking two birdies. Hudson Kutchma also had two birdies, while Ryan Cesare and Brayden Worthington each made one.

Eli Wessel was Guerin Catholic's top player with a 76, which placed him fifth in the individual standings. Leo Wessel shot a 78, and both had three birdies in their rounds. Owen Nielsen shot a 79 and had two birdies, while Gabe Berglund had one birdie.

In Carmel, three players competed as individuals. Ethan Hoagland was part of the fifth-place finish with a score of 76 and will enter the state championship as one of the three lowest-scoring players not on an advancing team. Hoagland made three birdies on the day. Noah Johnson of the Greyhounds made 79 and a birdie.

The two-day state finals begin Tuesday in Prairie View and end Wednesday.
