Yaites joins the Spring 2024 Transfer Portal Signing Class

Ryan Yaites has joined Cal's spring 2024 transfer signing class.

The list of recruits for 2024 now includes 41

The California football team announced on Friday the signing of defensive back Ryan Yaites (LSU), bringing the number of players in the 2024 recruiting class to 41, including 24 transfer players and 17 who are coming to California directly from high school.

According to On3 Sports, Cal is currently ranked 16th in the spring 2024 transfer portal rankings, with the Golden Bears having the seventh-highest value in the country with 24 transfers.

– Played 13 games as a 2023 freshman at LSU, all off the bench, contributing 16 tackles and a pass defense for a team that finished 10-4 overall and 6-2 in the SEC and beat Wisconsin 35-31 in the ReliaQuest Bowl on New Year's Day while ranked No. 13 in the final AP Top 25.
– Earned Under Armour All-American honors as a senior at John H. Guyer HS in 2022 when he accounted for 63 tackles, 11 pass breakups and two interceptions for a team that was 14-1 overall and 7-0 in 6A Region I District 5 games to win a district title and reach the semifinals of the Texas 6A D2 State Playoffs
– He is ranked 19th among safeties in the 2024 transfer portal rankings, while Rivals has him ranked 67th overall.

Cal opens the 2024 season on August 31 against UC Davis as part of the Bears' schedule in their first season as members of the Atlantic Coast Conference.
