MunjyaDirector: Aditya Sarpotdar, with Sharvari WaghMona Singh, Abhay Verma and Sathyaraj, recently released in theatres and the horror comedy had a surprisingly good opening at the box office. The film is part of Maddock Films' supernatural universe, which also includes films like Stree and Bhediya.

According to industry analyst Sacnilk, Munjya grossed Rs 4.21 crore on its opening day. Although no other big films released this week, Munjya could face competition from Mr and Mrs Mahi (starring Rajkummar Rao and Janhvi Kapoor).

According to industry analyst Sacnilk Munjya, the overall occupancy was 21.49 percent. In Mumbai, the film achieved 27 percent occupancy from 608 shows. In Delhi and NCR region, the occupancy was 20 percent from 602 shows. The film is expected to have a good weekend, although it received negative reviews from film critics across the country.

Despite there being no big names in the star cast, Munjya's box office numbers are quite impressive. 2024 has been a weak year for Hindi films so far, with most of the films flopping at the box office. Munjya's box office numbers are already better than Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi-starrer Merry Christmas, which grossed Rs 2.3 crore on its opening day, and Manoj Bajpayee-starrer Bhaiyya Ji, which grossed Rs 1.35 crore on its opening day.

After the surprising first day numbers were announced, the film's lead actor Sharvari said in a statement, “I am thrilled with the excellent start Munjya has had at the box office. We made this film with a lot of love, passion and hard work and I have been praying ever since that Munjya becomes a huge hit. It is a film that made me do something very special so early in my career and I must thank my producer Dinesh Vijan and my director Aditya Sarpotdar for believing in me to play this role.”
