Rohit Sharma will not play in India vs Pakistan match on June 9? Injury fears for Indian captain ahead of T20 World Cup clash

The Men in Blue will face arch-rivals Pakistan at the Nassau County International Stadium in New York on June 9. India won their last match against Ireland at the same venue, while Pakistan suffered a humiliating defeat to the USA.

However, ahead of the clash with Pakistan, India captain Rohit Sharma suffered another injury shock when he was hit on the thumb during a training session on Friday. According to a report by RevSportz, Rohit was batting against throwdown specialist Nuwan when the incident occurred and the Indian captain was also given immediate medical attention. The good news for Indian fans is that Rohit resumed training soon after the scan.

Rohit was particularly at risk of injury in the match against Ireland when the Indian opener had to leave the wicket in pain after the ball took off and hit his shoulder. Rohit later said it was just a sore arm and not a serious injury.

In other related news, the ICC recently acknowledged problems with the pitch at Nassau County Stadium, but added that it was working hard with ground staff to rectify the situation. The Men in Blue will play two more matches at the same venue, first against Pakistan on June 9 and then against the USA on June 12.

In a statement on the New York pitch, the ICC said: “T20 Inc. and the ICC are aware that the pitches used to date at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium have not been as consistent as we would all have liked.”

“The first-class grounds team has been working hard since the end of yesterday's match to rectify the situation and provide the best possible pitches for the remaining matches,” the governing body added.
