CLASS AAA

COMMACK (XI) 5
FAIRPORT (20-4) 9

William Stanek went 3-for-4 with three RBIs, including a two-run single in the bottom of the first inning that gave Fairport a lead they never relinquished, securing a spot in the state finals and a chance at the first state title in school history. Samuel Miller started the game for Fairport and went 5.2 innings, allowing three earned runs on five hits, recording seven strikeouts on the mound and helping his cause at the plate with a three-run triple to right in the bottom of the second inning. Samuel Roselli relieved Miller and pitched the final 1.1 innings, holding Commack hitless, striking out a batter and getting a hit at the plate and an RBI on a sacrifice fly. Patrick Lindquist had a 2-for-3 night, hitting a double and triple, scoring two runs and drawing a walk for the Red Raiders. Nathan VanDeVoorde struck out safely twice, as did Matthew Bartusek. Fairport will face Section I champion Ketcham in the Class AAA finals at 4 p.m. Saturday on the campus of Binghamton University.
