Hot, sunny weekend, rain again next week in North Texas

NORTH TEXAS – You can check another 90°F day off your books as our high temperature reached 95°F on Friday.

Thanks to a system of high pressure over Texas, it's clear and sunny this weekend. Bring sunscreen and hats, as the UV index will be very high this weekend. However, this is the first dry weekend in several weeks, so take advantage of the opportunity to soak up some sun.

However, you will notice that the dew point is a little higher this weekend, so good old humidity is back and the feels like temperatures are in the 100s.

The rain won't stay long as a cold front approaches North Texas late Sunday and lingers over North Texas on Monday. Rain chances increase to 50% on Monday and Tuesday, and a few thunderstorms are not out of the question. I don't think we'll see widespread, heavy rain, so I'm not too worried about flash flooding. Over a three-day period, parts of North Texas could expect between 0.10″ and 1.00″ of rain.

The rain will end on Wednesday as the frontal boundary moves out of North Texas and we'll see a return to drier air and sunshine. The First Alert forecast shows the cooler air along with the cold front on Monday won't last long either, as sunshine returns in full force toward the end of the week.
