North Texas-based Aimbridge Hospitality names former CFO of Top Golf and Velvet Taco as new Chief Financial Officer » Dallas Innovates

Aimbridge Hospitality, the Plano-based hospitality management company and the world's largest hotel operator, announced that William Davenport has been named its new chief financial officer, effective July 8.

Davenport will be a member of the company's senior leadership team and will report directly to CEO Craig Smith, who was appointed in March.

“As we extend our industry leadership and focus on developing a collaborative, performance-driven culture, we plan to leverage Williams' proven experience and leadership to strengthen our team and services,” Smith said in a statement. “His track record of building dynamic infrastructure, capabilities and systems will enhance our business model by creating speed, efficiency and sustainable real estate performance, resulting in superior results for our owners and partners.”

Davenport will oversee the company's financial management and be directly responsible for accounting, financial planning and analysis, compliance, tax, finance and procurement.

The company said he will leverage his more than thirty years of strategic experience in high-growth hospitality, food service, franchising and private equity businesses to drive Aimbridge's global expansion strategy, build new core competencies, transform financial reporting systems and simplify processes to enhance the comprehensive, world-class services provided to the company's owners, brand partners and suppliers.

“Well positioned for growth”

Davenport comes to Aimbridge after most recently serving as CFO of Velvet Taco, a fast-growing restaurant chain.

Prior to Velvet Taco, Davenport served as Chief Financial Officer at Topgolf for ten years, where he grew the concept from nine locations to its current size with over 80 locations across the U.S., a global presence and over $1.75 billion in revenue.

Aimbridge said Davenport has been instrumental in Topgolf's growth trajectory, including hiring key talent and growing the team, working with the capital markets and overseeing the integration of Topgolf into Callaway Golf following the brand acquisition.

“Aimbridge is incredibly well positioned for growth, making this an exciting time to join the company and help shape its vision for the future,” said Davenport. “I look forward to leveraging my diverse experience in hospitality and franchising to help the company deepen its hotel-centric approach, enhance the services we offer at scale and realize its partners' ambitious growth goals.”

Davenport's experience includes senior financial leadership positions at Haggar Clothing Co, Neiman Marcus Group and Brinker International Inc. after beginning his career at KPMG Peat Marwick.

Davenport will work closely with the senior leadership team, including recently appointed Chief Global Growth Officer Eric Jacobs and new Chief Legal Officer Greg Moundas.
