There are five sports at the 2024 Sunshine State Games this weekend | News, Sports, Jobs

TALLAHASSEE — Over 700 of Florida's top amateur athletes will compete in archery, synchronized swimming, fencing, pickleball and powerlifting between today, June 7, and Sunday, June 9.

Here is a brief preview of each of the five sports:


• June 7-9, Pickleplex, Punta Gorda – Final registration is 150 players. Punta Gorda's PicklePlex will have 16 courts available for play the weekend of June 7-9. Competition begins at 8:30 a.m. each day, with mixed doubles beginning on Friday. Men's and women's doubles will be played on Saturday, and singles competition will conclude on Sunday. The 2024 Sunshine State Games Pickleball Championships will be held in partnership with Punta Gorda Englewood Beach and Charlotte Harbor Gulf Island Coast.

The 2024 Championships are a qualifier for the 2024 Florida Senior Games, which will be held in December on Florida's Sports Coast/Pasco County.

Synchronized swimming

• June 7-9, Florida Aquatics Swimming and Training (FAST), Ocala – Final registration is 290 swimmers. SSG Artistic Swimming is visiting a nearly brand new FAST facility. Athletes will be in the pool starting at 7:45 a.m. each of the three days. The Junior Olympic Division will be contested on Friday. Advanced competition will be on Saturday and the Novice, Athletes with Disabilities, Open and Masters competitions will conclude the weekend on Sunday.


• June 8, Lift District Fitness, Margate – Last registration is 40 lifters. Sunshine State Games Powerlifting always features some of the top talent in the state of Florida. Two sessions will be held at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.


• June 8-9, Gator Bowmen, Gainesville – There are currently 115 archers registered. On-site registration will be available on Saturday, June 8 and Sunday, June 9. The Gator Bowmen range is located in a wooded area outside of Gainesville. When you compete at this location, it is truly like being in nature. Shooting begins at 9 a.m. both days.


• June 8-9, Miami Airport Conference Center – A total of 138 fencers from 30 clubs will compete in épée, foil and sabre events. SSG Fencing moves south after several years in the north of the state. SSG Fencing is one of the original sports of the games, dating back to 1980. SSG fencers travel from all over the state to compete. For the schedule and competition information, visit

• June 15-16, Clay County Regional Sports Complex – Registration closes June 12. There are currently 11 teams registered. With 20 courts, the SSG Ultimate court can expand to 20-25 teams. The Clay County Regional Sports Complex is one of the state's newest sports facilities and will open in March 2024. Visit


• June 15-16, Wiregrass Sports Campus, Wesley Chapel – Registration deadlines vary with price increases. The last date to register online is June 12. In-person registration is available. Approximately 200 athletes are currently registered. It will be a weekend of exciting competition at the Wiregrass Ranch Sports Complex with plenty of opportunities for athletes to test their skills. This will be the first Sunshine State Games competition to be held at the 100,000 square foot facility. Don't miss it, visit

• June 15-16, Legacy Park Multipurpose Center, Alachua. Registration closes June 8. There are currently 20 athletes registered. The Sunshine State Games Table Tennis Championships are unique in their structure, as players compete in multiple skill levels to improve their rankings. Register now at
