Sony needs Kraven The Hunter to generate interest in its universe after the end of Venom

Venom is the only successful production in Sony's current Spider-Man universe. The franchise, led by Tom Hardy, features a hilarious relationship between Eddie Brock and Venom that leaves audiences wanting more. Outside of these films, however, Sony's universe has been a mess as they tried to build a Spider-Man universe without Spider-Man by using many of his most obscure characters. However, Kraven is a more recognizable character that comic book readers have been dying to see in live-action films since 2002. Spider-Man.

Kraven has always been a popular character in the Spider-Man comics and his popularity recently increased with his appearance in Marvel’s Spider Man 2 video game. If Sony has a great Kraven movie on its hands, its universe could get a boost from an interesting villain/antihero that audiences would get invested in. The challenge here is that Kraven's life's work is to hunt and kill Spider-Man, and Since there is no Spider-Man, it might be difficult to get the audience excited about his character. However, there are some aspects that give this film hope.

Aaron Taylor Johnson on the poster for Kraven the Hunter

Kraven the Hunter has a few things going for it. It's the first film in Sony's Spider-Man universe to be rated R and features a more violent version of the villain. In the first trailer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson's Kraven is seen biting a guy's nose off and spitting it out, so he's not afraid to go to the next level with his violence. One of the main criticisms of the Venom films is that they weren't rated R, which makes them feel watered down.

The second positive aspect of Kraven the Hunter is the creative team behind it. It does not have the same team of writers behind it Morbius And Madame Webso this is a step in the right direction, and the director is JC Chandor. Chandor has never directed a big-budget blockbuster before, but he did direct 2014 An extremely violent yeara critics' favorite starring Oscar Isaac and Jessica Chastain. Sony's SSU hasn't had the best track record lately, but it needs Kraven the Hunter to turn things around after Venom: The Last Dance.
