Tata Altroz 2024 gets new features, i-Turbo variants deleted

2024 Tata Altroz gets a host of new features that will be available in the Altroz Racer; 1.2 li turbo petrol engine to be discontinued

As Tata Motors gears up to launch the Altroz Racer in India soon, the standard Altroz is about to get a major update. The Tata Altroz MY 2024 portfolio is being reshuffled and some variants have also been removed. The homegrown manufacturer has incorporated new features in the regular Altroz range and as we already know, these will be available in the Altroz Racer.

Tata has added new LUX trims including XZ LUX, XZ+ S LUX and XZ+ S LUX Dark. As for the colour schemes, the 2024 Tata Altroz will be offered in Avenue White, Arcade Grey, Opera Blue, Downtown Red and Cosmo Dark. The new LUX trims come with features like a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration and a 360-degree camera system.

The XZ+ S and XZ+S LUX trim levels also feature a 7-inch TFT instrument cluster, which will also be available in the Altroz Racer. The XZ+ S, however, does not have the new 10.25-inch touchscreen display. The Altroz is the only premium compact car in India to be rated five stars by Global NCAP, but it still does not have six airbags as standard.

The top-spec 2024 Tata Altroz XZ+ S LUX will be the only variant to come with six airbags. The XZ+ OS is the next trim level and features iRA telematics technology and an air purifier in addition to all the features of the XZ+ S LUX. The upcoming Altroz Racer will be the only model in the Altroz range to offer ventilated front seats and synthetic leather seats.

Tata has discontinued production of the Altroz i-CNG Dark Edition and all i-Turbo variants to make way for the Altroz Racer, which will boast a maximum power of 120 PS and 170 Nm, the same as the Nexon. The regular 1.2-litre three-cylinder NA petrol engine will continue to produce 88 PS and 115 Nm and will be paired with a five-speed manual or a six-speed DCA.

The same powertrain in the CNG version produces 73.5 hp and 103 Nm and is offered only with a five-speed manual transmission. The 1.5-litre four-cylinder diesel engine produces 90 hp and 200 Nm and is offered only with a five-speed manual transmission. An official price announcement is expected soon.
