Anthony Fauci, the face of the federal response to the COVID-19 pandemic, will appear before a congressional committee on Monday for the first time since his resignation about 18 months ago.

Throughout the hearing, Fauci vigorously defended the government's response to the pandemic and denied any attempts to improperly influence the debate about the origins of Covid-19.

He also became emotional as he recalled the threats and harassment he and his family experienced as he became a punching bag for critics of the federal government's response to COVID.

In recent months, the House Select Committee on Oversight and Accountability on the Coronavirus Pandemic has made little progress in its mission to uncover the origins of the virus, but has made a series of embarrassing discoveries about Fauci's colleagues.
