Austin FC continues to fill up its squad for the second half of the season.

Less than a week after announcing the signing of Designated Player Osman Bukari, Verde & Black made official the signing of defender Mikkel Desler.

The Athletic and foreign football media had already reported in January that the 29-year-old Desler would join the club.

Desler, a right-back from Denmark, has spent the last three seasons with Toulouse FC in France, helping the club to promotion to the top division in 2022, win the domestic cup competition and qualify for the Europa League in 2023.

Before his time in France, Desler played five seasons for Odense BK in Denmark and two seasons for FK Haugesund in Norway.

Desler's contract is guaranteed until 2027, with a club option for 2028.

Like Bukari, Desler will be able to train with the club immediately but will not be eligible to play in a game until July 20. This will be Austin FC's first game since the MLS summer transfer window opened on July 18.
