Destiny 2: The Final Shape release date – launch time, early downloads, download size, and more

This article has been updated with the new official storage requirements for Destiny 2, including “The Final Shape” and details on how much additional free space you’ll need to preload the DLC on certain platforms.

Since the release of the original Destiny in 2014, developer Bungie has released expansions for the space fantasy looter shooter every year, advancing the narrative of its colossal 10-year-long “Light and Darkness Saga.” All of this preparation has now led to The Final Shape – an incredibly ambitious and thrilling Destiny 2 DLC that aims to bring that saga to a fulfilling conclusion while ushering in a new era of new stories for Guardians to experience.

With Destiny 2 currently making a massive comeback following the disastrous reception of 2023's Lightfall DLC, all eyes are on Bungie and The Final Shape to see if the studio can stick the landing and give Destiny's decades-long narrative the capstone it deserves. Thankfully, we won't have to wait long to find out, as the expansion is almost here.
