UNCW is beaten by Georgia Tech 3-1

ATHENS, Georgia. – Georgia Tech’s Cam Jones led the Yellow Jackets into the NCAA Athens Regional Championship round with a seven-inning, one-run performance on Sunday, a 3-1 victory over UNCW at Foley Field.

The Yellow Jackets improved their record to 33-24, while the Seahawks finished their season at 40-21. It was UNCW's eighth 40-win season in program history.

With the score tied 1-1, the Yellow Jackets took control in the fourth inning with a two-run homer to the left bat of Mike Becchetti. Zane Taylor (5-1) for a 3-1 lead.

Jones (4-2) limited the Seahawks to six hits and the only run came through an RBI double from Tanner Thach in the second inning. The right-hander also contributed two runs and stole two bases.

Thach led the Seahawks in hits.

Taylor suffered the loss, the junior's first of the season. He allowed three runs on five hits in 3.1 innings and had four strikeouts.

The UNCW bullpen held GT scoreless over the final 4.2 innings, allowing just two hits.
