OnePlus Pad 2 coming soon? Key specs and other details leaked

New Delhi,UPDATED: June 3, 2024, 12:52 IST

Is the OnePlus Pad 2 tablet coming? There is no official announcement about it, but leaks suggest that the second-generation OnePlus Pad will be released in the second half of 2024, which is between July and December. However, it is not expected to launch anytime soon, as Chinese informant Digital Chat Station claims that the launch of this tablet is delayed. Here's everything we know so far.

The OnePlus Pad offered a satisfactory experience and received good feedback from several reviewers, giving the company a great start in the tablet segment, unlike wearables. The first-generation watch failed to impress, but the recently launched premium OnePlus Watch 2 offered a much better experience, albeit at a higher price. The source claims that the third-generation watch is also delayed, which is fine since it is not expected this year, as the Watch 2 was launched in February 2024.

The reason for the delay of the OnePlus Pad 2 is currently unknown, but it could be because the Oppo Pad 3 is still in development. For context, the OnePlus Pad was a rebranded version of the Oppo Pad 2, so the new version could also be a rebrand, but nothing is confirmed yet.

If we look at the leaks, the informant claims that the next generation of OnePlus and Oppo Pads will come with Qualcomm's flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. This suggests that both could have similar features. The rest of the details about the OnePlus tablet are still under wraps, but leaks have claimed that the Oppo Pad 3 will come with a slightly larger display and faster charging support. It will have a new chip that we mentioned above, and the rest of the features could be the same as the older model. The same upgrades are expected for the OnePlus Pad 2 as well.

The Oppo Pad 3 is said to feature a 12.1-inch LCD display with a 7:5 aspect ratio, a resolution of 3000 x 2120 pixels, and a peak brightness of 900 nits. The rear camera could be the same 13-megapixel sensor, and on the front, you could see the same 8-megapixel camera. Under the hood, OnePlus is expected to retain the 9,510mAh battery from the previous model. It could support 67W wired fast charging.

As a reminder, the OnePlus Pad was announced in India in April 2023 with a starting price of Rs 37,999. The new version is expected to cost under Rs 40,000 as it will reportedly receive fewer upgrades.
