Sydnie Christmas breaks her silence after dispute over BGT fix and reveals how she celebrated modestly

Sydnie Christmas broke her silence with a sweet message after taking home the crown at the finale of Britain's Got Talent at the weekend.

The talented 28-year-old singer won the competition on Sunday 2 June after an action-packed final broadcast on ITV. She battled it out in the final minutes for the winning title against magician Jack Rhodes, who came in second place, closely followed by mother-daughter dance duo Abigail and Afronita.

She was able to boast about her victory and also won £250,000 in prize money and the chance to perform at the Royal Variety Performance for the royal family. After winning the competition, Sydnie took to social media to thank her fans for their unwavering support.

Sydnie said on her Instagram stories: “Thank you to everyone who voted for me. I don't know… My life! The Christmas clan partying at Wetherspoons.” She then panned the camera around to show her family cheering her on and holding up their drinks.

The singer, who received the golden buzzer while singing a version of Tomorrow from the musical Annie, also posted a snap of herself posing with BGT judges and presenters Ant and Dec. The singer beamed with joy as she put her arms around Amanda Holden and Declan Donnelly. “Cheers to the best day of my life. Thank you all. I owe you everything,” she said.

Not everyone at home was happy to see Syndie crowned the winner, with many rushing to social media to claim her win was rigged. “F***ing rigged that she had a singing career before,” one fan angrily commented on X, formerly known as Twitter, while another echoed, “They don't even try to hide that this show is rigged.”

A third added: “Oh my god it was soooo obvious from day one that Simon was obsessed with that girl Sydnie. She's good but yawn if another singer wins (I guess) justice for the border collies.”

One fan speculated: “So an already established singer just won BGT 2024, what a rigging. Jack got robbed but they knew what they were doing when they chose the order. It was no coincidence that both Jack and Sydnie were the last two acts and in the top 2 and Simon's whole body was not pros in the top 2.”
